Land Development Experience
HR Green was hired to determine if it would be feasible to construct a freestanding Trader Joe’s retail building and parking lot over one of the stormwater detention basins.

Marian Central High School Field of Dreams
Marian Central Catholic High School’s sports complex consists of a competitive football field/track and field facility, baseball fields, a softball field, and tennis courts, as well as accessory buildings to complement these activities.
Marquette Scenic Overlook and Boardwalk
HR Green provided design and construction engineering services for the renovation of the Marquette-Joliet Bridge scenic overlook, including a new stairway connection to the Cobblestone Inn/City Hall pedestrian bridge, and a new boardwalk extending into the Mississippi River.
O’Dell Mixed Use Development
HR Green performed the planning, entitlements and writing of the PUD for this 430-acre premier master planned development that balances natural and man-made elements to create an environmentally sensitive community.
Walgreens Site Design
HR Green was selected to provide surveying, engineering and landscape architecture services for this site located in the heart of Northbrook amidst other moderate sized commercial parcels and existing homes.

University of Minnesota Ruttan Plaza

HR Green provided leak investigation services and a structural analysis of the underutilized plaza and determined that the structure was no longer adequately designed to support the existing loads. As a result, the University seized the opportunity to repair the failing structure and elected to incorporate an upgraded green roof design into the necessary structure improvements to establish a more pedestrian-friendly space.

The Iowa River Landing was a re-development project that converted a 180 acre industrial area into a mixed-use district comprised of a hotel, conference center, 300,000+ square feet of retail, office, residential and entertainment space, a medical clinic and parking.
The development is approximately 200 acres in size with approximately 70% commercial and 30% residential, with the residential components comprised of both single and multi-family homes.

With an increased emphasis in the US on multi-modal transportation and awareness of public health, there is more funding available for projects that include sidewalks or multi-use trails. Not surprisingly, HR Green has designed a number of projects requiring pedestrian bridges to carry sidewalks and trails over roadways and creeks. As we gain experience with these types of projects, we have learned valuable lessons and identified common misconceptions regarding pedestrian bridges.

Once again, HR Green, Inc. (HR Green) has been included in the Engineering News Record’s (ENR) annual lists of top design and construction firms in the nation. HR Green has continued to climb the annual ENR list of the Top 500 Design Firms in the United States, rising 39 spots and coming in at 202.
In the past few years, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related occupations have started to top the list of careers students are looking to pursue. HR Green Inc. Reitz previously served as the Director of the Land Development Midwest Region, overseeing planning, landscape architecture and engineering services delivered by staff in the Chicago area.
