The master-planned community of Bridgeland is located in Cypress, Texas, and is developed with green infrastructure and low-impact design principles, a newer concept in the City of Houston and Harris County. The community offers residents an immersive connection to nature with trails, lakes, and various habitats.
The premier master-planned community exceeds 11,000 acres and includes four residential villages, a vital retail component, and a 900-acre town center. The residential component includes 4,000+ residential lots as well as schools, civic, parks, and open spaces.
HR Green provided construction engineering inspection services for the Bridgeland community, inspecting the construction of the communities’ roadways, water main, storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure, sidewalks, and ADA compliance testing. We also coordinated the punch list and final walkthroughs with Bridgeland, Harris County, utility companies, and contractors. Our on-site inspectors worked with stakeholders to streamline the change order approval process, minimizing impacts on the schedule due to field conditions that required plan revisions.
Construction staff coordinated with project designers to update each section’s plans as issues presented themselves, keeping each section’s progress moving forward to reach the expected completion date. Project documents were kept and submitted into Harris County’s web-based document storage system allowing for timely project closeout of each section. Close coordination with utilities permitted the installation of their infrastructure ahead of roadway work, eliminating the removal and reinstallation of pavement and sidewalk sections.
The community’s infrastructure was completed on time and to final specifications allowing for continued growth. With timely communication of project changes and coordination of activities provided, there was little to no rework for contractors, minimizing the overall cost of each section.
