HR Green, Inc. Receives “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” Award from MO / KS Chapter of American Concrete Pavement Association for Taxiway Kilo Reconstruction Project at St. Louis Lambert International Airport
HR Green, Inc. (HR Green) has received the “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” award from the MO / KS chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association in the Commercial Service and Military Airports category for its role in the Taxiway Kilo reconstruction project at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). HR Green provided Construction Management for the $6.1 million project as a part of a joint venture partnership with Kwame Building Group.
This project included several unique and challenging components necessary to allow reconstruction work to occur while minimizing impacts to airport operations at STL, including some aspects that have rarely been attempted before, if ever. A phasing plan was developed that would allow the tenants’ aircraft, some of the largest in the industry, to safely navigate the taxiway while it was being reconstructed.
With four distinct phases required to complete the project, each modifying the access route for cargo tenants into the apron, effective communication was key to the success of the project. It was critical that the overall project be completed before November and that the full pavement width be turned back over to STL, so that normal cargo operations could be restored before the busy holiday season for the three tenants.
