The United City of Yorkville sought a large commercial contingent, Kendall Marketplace, to accommodate the rapid rate of residential growth throughout the City and surrounding communities. This project answered that need with 750,000 square feet of commercial floor space anchored by Home Depot, Target, and Kohl’s stores. The development is approximately 200 acres in size with approximately 70% commercial and 30% residential, with the residential components comprised of both single and multi-family homes.
The client tasked HR Green with providing a plan for the large Kendall Marketplace property with the interest of the community and the local residents in mind. HR Green listened to and incorporated comments from the local residents into the final design including an extensive buffer to screen the development from adjacent residences. HR Green provided land planning, site design, and survey services, along with stormwater and transportation engineering and landscape architecture. Landscape design included native plantings along a 20-acre stormwater basin, perimeter buffering, entryway/sign enhancements, and parking lot improvements.
