HR Green

HR Green is pleased to announce that Jon Wiegand has joined the firm as a Senior Project Manager for Transportation and is a Practice Lead for Traffic Engineering.

Jon brings more than 20 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning across the Midwest. As a trusted project manager and technical advisor, he has led a wide range of multimodal corridor, intersection, interchange, and traffic impact studies, as well as area transportation plans, safety action plans, and corridor access plans. His management approach emphasizes collaborative, user‑focused solutions supported by robust stakeholder and public engagement, thorough concept development, alternatives analysis, environmental review, and a strong commitment to safety. Jon also offers expertise in traffic signal optimization and timing, traffic signal design, maintenance‑of‑traffic planning, signing plans, and assistance with transportation grant applications.

Jon will lead HR Green’s Traffic Engineering Practice by connecting traffic engineering resources across the organization, fostering mentorship and professional development within the team, and supporting offices company‑wide through technical leadership and strategic guidance. He will continue to serve local and regional agencies as a Project Manager and Technical Advisor on traffic engineering and transportation planning studies. In addition, Jon will play a key leadership role in emerging markets, helping advance HR Green’s vision and core values while building strong relationships with new clients.

“I am excited to rejoin HR Green and build on the exceptional work the company has delivered for decades. As a Senior Project Manager, I will continue to champion a collaborative approach to addressing safety and operational needs across all modes of travel. In my role as HR Green’s Traffic Engineering Practice Lead, I also look forward to bringing best practices and lessons learned from across the organization to our clients—advancing solutions that meet their transportation needs today while positioning them for the future.”

Jon earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University and a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), and Road Safety Professional 1 (RSP1).
