As Thanksgiving approaches, HR Green’s Sioux Falls team turned gratitude into action by volunteering at Feeding South Dakota, the state’s largest hunger-relief organization. Our local volunteers dedicated 24 hours to help families across the state gain access to nutritious meals during the holiday season and beyond.

Feeding South Dakota plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity, serving all 66 counties and distributing more than 11.7 million meals in its last fiscal year. Through programs like the Backpack Program, which provided over 164,000 food packages to children, and monthly mobile food distributions reaching 12,000 families, the organization is a lifeline for thousands. Additional efforts included the distribution of 27,929 senior boxes, supported by over 10,000 volunteers who donated nearly 59,000 hours to hunger-relief efforts.
During the event, HR Green employees sorted and stacked 17,000 gallons of milk on pallets for transport and assembled more than 1,000 Backpack Program bags, providing essential support to children and families facing food insecurity.

Feeding South Dakota’s vision is a state where no one’s health, well-being, or potential is limited by access to nutritious food. With volunteers and community partners across rural areas, metro regions, and Native American reservations, the organization continues to play a vital role in strengthening food access for thousands.
HR Green proudly champions community involvement, empowering employees to make a difference where they live and work. By supporting volunteerism, we strengthen communities and create lasting impact together.
