HR Green continues to support the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, commonly known as the Illinois Tollway, through a series of complex roadway, bridge, ramp, and construction management assignments across the Tollway system. Over the past 15 years, HR Green has maintained a strong working relationship with the Tollway, providing construction services on major corridor improvements that enhance safety, mobility, and capacity.
HR Green’s current work includes construction management and Phase III engineering services on multiple Tollway assignments, including improvements along the Central Tri-State Tollway, I-294, I-294 between St. Charles Road and North Avenue, and interchange and ramp improvements at the Tri-State Tollway, I-294, East-West Connector Ramp near York Road.
These projects require significant coordination with the Tollway, the Illinois Department of Transportation, Union Pacific Railroad, utility providers, local agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders. Much of the Central Tri-State work is located within a highly constrained corridor, with portions of the mainline roadway supported by retaining walls and adjacent to active rail yards and local infrastructure. Maintaining safe traffic flow while advancing construction requires careful staging, close field oversight, and consistent communication among all project partners.
In addition, HR Green has been providing construction management services for pavement preservation and systemwide Tollway improvements, including asphalt overlay, pavement patching, pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, erosion and sediment control, plaza improvements, pavement repair, and other on-call needs across the Tollway system. These assignments help the Tollway address immediate infrastructure needs while maintaining reliable service for daily commuters, freight movement, and regional travelers.
A defining strength of HR Green’s Tollway work is the team’s ability to provide thorough construction documentation, audit-ready records, and responsive client service. The Tollway’s construction program requires detailed tracking of field activities, quantities, materials, pay estimates, final measurements, calculations, and contract documents. HR Green’s consistency in documentation and closeout support has helped contribute to a long-running partnership built on performance and accountability.
