ACEC Missouri Announces Honor Award for Route 109 Improvements
The City of Wildwood, Missouri, and HR Green won an Honor Award in ACEC Missouri’s 2021 Engineering Excellence Award Competition for the Route 109 Improvements Phase 2 project.
The second phase of the Route 109 improvements was the culmination of many years of careful planning to improve Route 109 through the City of Wildwood. The City has a successful history of partnering with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to improve the state routes that traverse the community. The project is a continuation of previous work on the corridor where HR Green and the City championed the vision, developed the funding strategies, and executed the design and construction of infrastructure improvements to improve safety, increase capacity, and reduce congestion on this MoDOT route.
“HR Green played a key role in the successful delivery of these improvements to the residents of Wildwood, helping to coordinate between MoDOT, the City, the various project stakeholders, and developers with interests in the corridor. They endured countless schedule and budget challenges throughout the project yet remained a trusted advisor to the City.”
Jim Bowlin, Mayor of Wildwood
The corridor remains heavily traveled and contains a varied mix of residential, commercial, and institutional users. The finished product was an overwhelming success of leveraging federal funding to make local funding go further and demonstrated the power of planning and patience to implement a vision over time. The success was borne largely through a cooperative effort among the City of Wildwood, MoDOT, and HR Green, as well as the contractor and the general public.
