Giving Back: HR Green’s Employee Volunteer Program

HR Green

At HR Green, giving back is about more than community service. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, strengthen relationships, and grow both personally and professionally. Through volunteering, our employees connect with their communities, support important causes, and live out the values that shape our culture every day.

Whether participating in environmental initiatives, supporting local charities, or contributing to community outreach efforts, HR Green employees bring the same spirit of collaboration, care, and leadership to volunteer work that they bring to their projects. These efforts reflect who we are as a company and reinforce our commitment to the communities where we live and work.

Building Communities. Improving Lives.

At HR Green, our mission is about more than delivering technical solutions. It is about creating positive outcomes for communities and improving quality of life. We work alongside our clients to help them meet their goals, but we also believe that making an impact extends beyond project work.

Volunteering is one of the many ways our employees bring that mission to life. By supporting local organizations, participating in service projects, and contributing time to causes they care about, our team helps build stronger, more connected communities. These experiences also strengthen the bonds among coworkers and create opportunities for employees to connect in new and meaningful ways.

Volunteerism reflects many of the values that define HR Green, including collaboration, leadership, and community. It allows employees to step outside their day-to-day responsibilities and contribute in a different way while still making a lasting impact.

“Working alongside my colleagues and volunteers reminded us that even small efforts, like collecting litter along a trail, have a big impact on the health of our local environment and the long-term sustainability of our waterways,” said Colleen Monahan, HR Green’s Regional Director of Land Development for Colorado.

Supporting Our Communities, Together

To make volunteerism more accessible, HR Green offers employees two paid volunteer days each year. This benefit gives team members dedicated time to support causes that matter to them without using personal time off. Whether they choose to volunteer independently or participate in a team activity, employees have the flexibility to engage in ways that are meaningful to them.

This program also supports a stronger workplace culture. Volunteering together creates shared experiences, encourages teamwork, and gives employees the chance to get to know one another outside of the office or job site. It is a reminder that the relationships built at work can also create positive change in the community.

From food banks and neighborhood cleanups to nonprofit events and community improvement projects, HR Green employees are proud to give their time and talents to organizations making a difference.

Our Commitment in Action

HR Green Team Inspires Young Minds at GESTEM

HR Green is proud to support initiatives like GESTEM that empower young women, promote diversity in STEM, and help build the future talent pipeline. Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (GESTEM) is an exciting event designed to inspire middle school girls by showcasing the diverse career opportunities available in STEM fields. Through interactive workshops and meaningful engagement with engineering professionals, participants gain hands-on experience and valuable insights.

“Volunteering at GESTEM is always an energizing experience,” said Kristine House. “We love showing students how engineering can shape the world around them—and how they can be part of it.”

Why Volunteerism Matters

Volunteer work benefits communities, but it also has a meaningful impact on employees. It offers a chance to build new relationships, gain perspective, develop leadership skills, and feel connected to a larger purpose. For many employees, it is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute both inside and outside the workplace.

When employees volunteer together, they often return with a renewed sense of connection and pride — not only in the organization, but in each other. That shared experience can strengthen team culture and remind employees that their work is part of something broader than the tasks of a typical workday.

We believe these moments matter. They help create a workplace where people feel connected, supported, and proud of the role they play in improving lives.
