HR Green Hosts Colorado Springs High School Students for Hands-On Tour, Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Professionals

HR Green

HR Green’s Colorado Springs office welcomed high school students from the Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) program for an educational and inspiring tour of the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Visitor Center construction site and the newly opened Hotel Polaris. This community outreach initiative highlights HR Green’s commitment to fostering the next generation of construction and engineering professionals by connecting students with real-world experiences in the STEM and construction fields.

HR Green’s Eric Smith, Municipal Engineering Director, led the tour, providing students with a behind-the-scenes look at the completed Hotel Polaris and the ongoing construction of the visitor center. Throughout the tour, Smith shared insights on the planning, engineering, and construction phases that brought these projects to life. They discussed the challenges faced along the way, as well key successes.

“Engaging with students and showing them the possibilities within the construction and engineering industries is very rewarding,” said Smith. “By opening our worksites to these future professionals, we hope to show them the exciting career paths available in STEM fields.”

CICC provides vocational education to high school students, giving them exposure to fields like planning, engineering, construction, and project management. By fostering a connection between the classroom and the job site, the program is empowering Colorado students to build bright futures in construction and the skilled trades industries.

HR Green remains committed to not only shaping the physical landscape of communities but also investing in the next generation of innovators and builders.
