HR Green Selected to Conduct I-90 Exit 406 Interchange Modification Study and Environmental Assessment
HR Green was chosen by the South Dakota Department of Transportation to perform an Interchange Modification Justification Report (IMJR) and associated environmental investigation for the I-90 Exit 406 interchange. The 2010 South Dakota Decennial Interstate Corridor Study identified a preferred I-90 Exit 406 Build alternative for bridge and ramp terminal intersection improvements to be carried forward for further analysis. However, upon further analysis, it was determined that the originally proposed alternative would not meet the operational goals of the interchange. A Study Advisory Team (SAT) has been assembled for the project and consists of representative parties of the SDDOT, City of Brandon, Sioux Falls MPO, and FHWA.
“We are excited to partner with the SDDOT, Sioux Falls MPO, and City of Brandon on the I-90 Exit 406 interchange modification study and environmental assessment,” said Project Manager Jonathan Wiegand. “As a gateway into the City of Brandon, the interchange serves the community as their lone access to and from I-90. We are proud to be able to assist the Study Advisory Team with the challenges presented throughout the interchange study area and address transportation needs of a vibrant, growing community.”
HR Green is responsible for:
- Performing a HCM 2010-based traffic analysis comparison of the reconfigured interchange options versus the existing configuration.
- Creating an IMJR for the SDDOT to submit to FHWA.
- Conducting an environmental study for the interchange and crossroad corridor and associated intersections.
- Creating final products for the City of Brandon, Sioux Falls MPO and SDDOT.
