HR Green Selected to Conduct I-90 Exit 406 Interchange Modification Study and Environmental Assessment
HR Green was chosen by the South Dakota Department of Transportation to perform an Interchange Modification Justification Report (IMJR) and associated environmental investigation for the I-90 Exit 406 interchange.
The Downer Place Bridges over the Fox River project was awarded the 2014 Project of the Year Award by the Fox Valley Branch and the Chicago Metro Chapter. The project also received the ACEC Merit Award.
The ribbon cutting for the Anderson Road bridge in Elburn, IL was held this week. The project provides a key north-south transportation link for vehicular access to the Metra commuter station and relieve congestion along Illinois Route 47 by providing a grade separation option over the railroad tracks.
The 2014 U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) National Bridge Inventory database found that there are more than 2,000 fewer structurally deficient structures than there were in 2013. However, that means more than 61,000 structurally deficient bridges are still in need of significant repair.
HR Green has been performing Biennial Bridge safety inspections for the City of Rockford since 2003 for more than 100 structures ranging from culverts to Rock River Crossings.
With an increased emphasis in the US on multi-modal transportation and awareness of public health, there is more funding available for projects that include sidewalks or multi-use trails. Not surprisingly, HR Green has designed a number of projects requiring pedestrian bridges to carry sidewalks and trails over roadways and creeks. As we gain experience with these types of projects, we have learned valuable lessons and identified common misconceptions regarding pedestrian bridges.
HR Green, Inc. and its client, the City of Coralville, have received the 2011 Outstanding Civil Engineering Project Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Iowa Section for the First Avenue Corridor Recovery and Protection Project in Coralville.
The Sullivan Road Bridge is only the second new bridge built in Kane County since the early 1970s. The bridge is a major crossing over the Fox River, connecting Illinois Route 25 on the east side of the river to Illinois Route 31 on the west side of the river.
