HR Green’s Manik Mitra Elected Secretary of ASCE Houston Branch

Manik Mitra, PE, CFM, CPESC, of HR Green, Inc. (HR Green) was recently elected as Secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) ASCE Houston Branch. Mitra has been an active member with ASCE for nearly three years. In 2016, Mitra become the Chair of Water Resources group. Due to his continuous involvement with local community and ASCE, they offered him the Secretary post for August 2017 to July 2018.

Manik Mitra, PE, CFM, CPESC, of HR Green, Inc. (HR Green) was recently elected as Secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Texas Section.

“I am always involved in community services. I started as a Practitioner Advisor at University of Houston ASCE Student Chapter (UH ASCE). I am still helping out graduate and undergraduate students with their career path as a Practitioner Advisor on behalf of ASCE Houston Branch.” said Mitra.

Mitra has experience in water resources engineering and hydrologic modeling in both the public and private sectors. His expertise includes an understanding of environmental chemistry, hydrologic modeling and analysis, hydrology and hydrometeorology, geo-morphology, soil stability analysis, irrigation, and structural analysis. In Houston he has worked on flood gage and flood warning systems as well as the Hughes Road Rehabilitation project and Magnolia Point Unserved Area Sanitary Sewers Services project. Mr. Mitra was intensively involved for a Coastal Water Authority Project called Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project. In that Project Mr. Mitra was performing GIS analysis and drainage analysis.

Mitra received his B.S. in Water Resources Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Dhaka, Bangladesh and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas, San Antonio. In addition, he is also Chairman of Industrial/Petrochemical Department (ASCE Houston Branch) and Practitioner Advisor at University of Houston ASCE student Chapter (Civil Engineering Department).
