Indian Trail Bridge Ribbon Cutting
Aurora, Illinois representatives officially opened the bridges carrying Indian Trail Road across the Fox River.
HR Green provided design engineering to widen the two existing bridges carrying Indian Trail Road over the east and west branches of the Fox River. Scope consists of deck replacement with in-kind substructure widening.
The existing east bridge was a three-span concrete deck on steel plate girder and wide flange beam bridge supported on concrete solid wall and hammerhead piers with spread footings or piles. The existing west bridge was a seven-span concrete deck on steel plate girder and wide flange beam bridge supported on concrete solid wall and hammerhead piers with spread footings.
The project consisted of the concrete deck removal, replacement and the widening of the two bridges carrying Indian Trail Road over the Fox River and pavement reconstruction between IL Route 31 (Lake Street) and IL Route 25 (Aurora Avenue). The improvements also include new curb and gutter, 7′ wide sidewalks on both sides of the bridges, decorative railings with historic plaques, LED street lighting with decorative poles, improved drainage, guardrail, pavement markings and landscaping.
