This project involved the design and construction of a new 2.0 mgd water treatment plant and 500,000 gallon pedestal spheroid water tower for the City of Nevada, Iowa. The new plant was designed with potential for a 50 % expansion at a future date. The new plant includes aeration, lime softening, recarbonation, gravity filtration, recarbonation system, fluoridation and chlorination, ground storage reservoir, and high service distribution pumping.

A state-of-the-art instrumentation and control system provides full control of plant operations through the SCADA system and receives information from various systems indicating flowrate, systems operation, local alarms, water level in all elevated storage tanks, and more. The security system includes a video recording system, an intrusion alarm system, a card access entry system and an audio/video intercom system.

Beyond design of the facility, Howard R. Green Company (HR Green) provided services during the bid phase and construction observation and administration.  During the construction phase, HR Green provided a resident construction inspector to observe construction activities.
