Wastewater – Nutrient regulations are coming to Iowa
It should come as no surprise that Iowa is a nutritious state. Our soils are naturally rich in nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus, and levels of these nutrients are increased by some human activities. Currently, most of the nutrients entering Iowa’s watersheds come from fertilizers and manure, but industrial and municipal wastewater discharges also contribute nutrients to the waters of Iowa.
